I've been a bit of a slacker the past few days... But you know what? There is still progress.
Week 4, Day 25
Current Weight: 321
13 pounds gone!
I still love the gym. And I'm finding new things to add to it as well. I've added weights into my routine, and have printed some infor about Yoga and Tabata that I'm going to do at home on days where I don't have time to get to the gym, or when I simply need a quick workout on my super busy days.
I'm still eating well. This week I've splurged a little more than normal, but I've made not bad choices. Instead of chowing down on Pizza, I had 1 slice, and then a large salad. And really, the pizza didn't do it for me... I kind of regretted eating it. I've pretty much cut out a ton of carbs, and really only eat whole grain ones now.
I've kind of lost all craving for fast food... which is weird considering that I used to eat out several days a week. When I went out for dinner with some friends the other night instead of getting that burger that I really wanted, I got the hummus and veggie plate. It came with grilled bread as well, so I splurged and ate that with all the veggies. And I didn't get a drink that night either.
I don't remember drinking much besides water and Smoothies... smoothies are my new obsession. Fresh and frozen fruit, almond milk, some nut butter, either almond or peanut, maybe some agave syurup and greek yogurt. This is usually what I have for morning.... and right before dinner... and for snacks. But it's all good ingredients that I don't feel bad.
One thing I'm working on, especially this past week is making sure that I am counting my WW points. I was so good at that, so I really need to be using that app of mine... I bought a cookbook with recipes, so I'm going to try those too.
Portions? Still a problem sometimes... And I've been getting better and really slimming those down. Sometimes when I'm super hungry I go a little nuts... but that leads me to the next point...
SNACK MORE. I need to. I need to make sure I'm eating something about every 2 hours, whether it's a Luna Bar or a handful of almonds, some fruit... It's harder at work since I'm usually busy running around doing things. mainly so I'm not starving when it comes to the next meal.
I need to drink more water. I mean, it's pretty much all I've been drinking... really don't drink much else now, no soda for about a month!!! But I just need to get more. Sitting here typing this is making me thirsty. Trying to really drink lots more so my body isn't retaining water weight.
So overall, I'm starting to settle into some really healthy habits.
I haven't noticed too much difference physically. a little slimmer around my waist I think. And around my collar bones (why? this happened a long time ago. The weight goes from there but not my abdomen? ugh...) But I know that maybe another 10 pounds and it'll start to go. I want to lose 125 or more, so I know that I'm 10% done. And that's a good feeling.
And of course I wish it was all going faster... but I'll take what I get now and really kick it into even higher gear now.

A Little Background... And honesty
Tomorrow is the start of my last month of my 20's. And you know, being this close to 30 made me realize a few things:
1. I'm not afraid of 30 anymore. It's just a number. I still act like I'm 18. So no worries there.
2. I'm comfortable with my personality, interests, etc. I'm a geek, deal with it. If people can't accept that, then screw 'em
3. I have a job I love that values me as a person as well as does great things in the community
4. My social life is great. I'm comfortable with friends. I'm comfortable being single for once as well.
5. I'm fat.
Okay, that last one may sound harsh. But it's true.
I'm just finally able to say it aloud and admit it to people.
But here's the kicker. Once I openly admitted it, I realized it's time to do something about it.
Three weeks ago there was a work competition about getting in shape and losing weight. Make a team of 4 people and see who loses the most weight/percentile in 3 months. Sweet, right?
I work for a great company that actually really cares about the people and offers us service to help out with anything in our personal life. There is a health and wellness coach that travels between stores and helps us out with what we need. We met, we took measurements, made a game plan. And thus started my journey of getting rid of number 5 on the list.
So where am I going with this scatterbrained first post?
I felt the need to start documenting publically what I'm going through. The ups, downs, and honest truths.
Three weeks in... and things are looking up.
At 5'11'' I was the following...
My Initial Measurements:
Weight: 334lbs
Waist: 50 in
Hips: 57in
BMI: 42
3 weeks later:
Weight: 325 lbs
Waist: 48in
Hips: 55in
BMI: 41
And those numbers made me feel GOOD! Dear God, It's working!
What am I doing even?
1. Controlling everything that goes in my mouth. I am following Weight Watchers points system to a T. I eat my points every day, all of them (That's super important.) I add fruits and veggies, which I've always loved, to every meal. I stopped eating out (unless the calorie counts are listed, and then it's usually a salad... which I love!) I do this thing where I pack all of my food for the day into a bag. I can't eat it unless it comes out of the bag. When it's empty, I'm done. And satisfied. And still get to have treats!
2. The Gym is my second home: I go 4 times a week for an hour plus. I like working out. I always loved playing sports and everything.. I don't know why I got away from it. And now, I look forward to going there and really focusing on my body. I put on great tunes, I block out the world and walk... or bike... or use the elliptical (ellipticate?) I'm starting to add in weights now too. It feels... good!
3. ACCOUNTABILITY!!! I'm doing it. And telling others about it. So when they ask me, I can say what I'm honestly doing. And driving for results. And sharing those results. Annoyingly probably. But the thing is, is that I've got so many people in my corner that I'm super motivated.
4. Long term REALISTIC goals: I've made goals. like far out ones. What I want my final weight to be. Scheduled to RUN a 5k in the fall (gotta ease into it because of previous injuries), want to do a triathlon with my siblings in the summer of 2015. Half Marathon in the fall of 2015. And I know that I will never be a skinny minny. I inherited my father's big bone structure. And know that I'll never be below a size 12... nor do I want to be. I'm super tall and structurally built bigger. And I like some curves. I just want to be healthier.
SO there it is world! Breathe it all in. I'll keep updating weekly... more often if I have the time. I'll let you know where I am, what my results are. I'll update the weight often, and the measurements about once a month when I see my wellness coach.
So yeah. Start date of March 3rd. End date.. one year? Here's hoping!
Stay strong!
